Summer Break week 5

Week 5 is done...
i can't believe it.
July ended and August has begun.
*see week 4 here*

Thursday
we stayed home for the morning as i got the house ready for our guests.
Dan's sister and the family were coming to visit for a week.

we watched some Good Mythical Morning and the kids got inspired.

See the inspirational video below:

Then we went to the boardwalk.

Friday
finished getting the house ready
and moved a chair outside that i've been wanting out of my bedroom.
it's currently a reading chair outside until it gets gross.
later that evening our guests arrived.

Saturday
the kids wanted to show their cousins the boardwalk.
it was unattached so we got creative getting to it.

dan set up a giant swing

and we had a bbq with family and friends.

Sunday

hiking at Limberlost

and prepping for our camping trip.

Monday
the boy turned 9!
it was his birthday and we headed up to a favorite place.
Killarney Provincial Park.

the boy's birthday dinner request

Tuesday

Summer Break week 3

Week 3.
many more memories.
See week 2 here

Thursday:
The kids played school.
seriously.
all day.
their field trip was to the pool.

Friday morning my girl came to me
"mommy can i use your camera to take a picture of the sunrise? it's beautiful."
i said yes

My boy wanted to make an edible bridge.
he was inspired by a friend who made a rice krispie square pyramid for an end of the year project at school.
so we gathered the necessary items and he got to work.
it looked great.
and tasted yummy!

The same day the girl had a friend over and they played.
after one of their times in the pool they found little moths.
look closely, there it is in her hands.

Saturday:
We went to a summer party for the running club my husband is a member of.
we decided to canoe there.
we had a wonderful adventure.
portaging along the road to get to the water.
the canoe dumping within 10 minutes of starting out.
stopping at the Hunters Bay Trail for a swim and snack.
not knowing officially where the house is.
stopping at friends' so we could ask them which house we were supposed to be at.
finding the place!
canoeing home before dark.

Sunday:
we got to see dear friends and their new baby after church.
we had a lazy afternoon.
watching Canada's Worst Driver and some of the Calgary Stampede.
my boy was invited (with his daddy) to go fishing, his first time ever.
so while the boys went fishing, my girl and i went to the theatre and saw
The Secret Life of Pets.

Monday:
after playing at home most of the day we loaded our bikes in the car and drove to the trail.
we biked from the parking lot, along the trail, to the kids' school.
biked around the school yard, ate a snack and biked back.

back at the car we got our towels, goggles and ball.
and they had a swim before heading home.

Tuesday:
More time at the boardwalk in town.
so much fun.
the wind was chilly but the sun was hot.

on wednesday the kids headed to Toronto with their papa.
i took the beast to the vet, and hung out with my bestie.
it was another great week.

there were lots of indoor times too,
but i don't like indoor photos very much, so i don't usually capture those memories.

I hope your summer is being enjoyed to the fullest.
i have forgotten to put in photos of a couple wonderful creations the kids have made,
maybe if i think of it i'll post a summer creations one at the end.

what a November day

Yesterday was beautiful.
it was a spectacular autumn day.
Sunny and 17*C
i was determined to get out and enjoy it with the kids when they got home.

with their bikes in the back of the car
we headed to the nearest trail

i walked, Gertie around my neck,
and they biked short distances ahead of me, finding ways to play while waiting for me to catch up.

I am so thankful for this beautiful day in November.

Couldn't have asked for a better day..
or after school time with the kidlets.

When my timer let me know we had to turn around
the sun was beginning to set.

shorter days in November,
but what a beautiful day it was.

spring in huntsville

i am usually at the school library on tuesdays.
not today.
so instead i drove the kids to school then took Gertie and we went for a walk.

it's Spring.
the sun is shining.
the birds are chirping.
it's a beautiful day.

oh yeah, did i mention our snow hadn't finished melting and we got more yesterday?

i walked down to the town docks and saw that beautiful view under the bridge.

those are my footprints on the dock.

i love the clock tower.

welcome home. i love having the geese back.

walking beside the water.  so beautiful.

look at all those duck footprints.
i didn't get to see any ducks this morning, but they will probably be there in the afternoon sun.

love this cross atop the Anglican church by the water.
Good Friday is only a few days away.

look at the sun shining on the water.

it is spring.
the snow doesn't make it winter again.
the warmth in the sunshine.
the geese.
even the seagulls i heard calling out.

i love spring.
all aspects of it.
