Furry Friday Fotos

our beasts.

Lord Cliverelli.
he has his minions do his bidding.
he kills them whenever he feels like it.

we are here to care for him and make sure he has the most comfortable life.

He owns all the land he can see.
no matter where he is standing or sitting.

Jack Jack.
he is a minion.
he loves Lord Cliverelli.

He is here to please Lord Cliverelli and Dan.
if Dan is not in his sights life is not complete.

he lives for head rubs in peoples crotches and for food...any type of food you'll give him.

winter walk

the sun was up.
the dog was raring to go.
i got on my snowpants, coat, boots and toque.
fetched Gertie.
let out the beast.
away we went.
the beast.
what a beautiful day for a walk.
sun was shining.
snow was glittering.
didn't need snowshoes because our trail was packed down enough.
this is not our trail.  i climbed up through waist deep snow to photograph this trail.

the train passing.  a glimpse through our trees.

the view from our lookout
i wanted to capture the woodpecker..or the crows.
maybe even a chickadee.

the one crow that came to say hi left before i could even get my camera to my eye.
the one woodpecker we know of didn't come out to play.
there was one little chickadee but it flew away when the beast and i neared.

relaxing up at the lookout.

oh well.
it was still a gorgeous walk.

look at that beautiful blue sky

gertie loved capturing the beauty surrounding us.
the beast is so fun to photograph in the snow.

i'm so glad i took this hour today.

and check out who was enjoying the sunshine through the window when we got home.
*yes, he's sitting on our table...when the people are away the cat will play*

81/365

day 81.
this was a Practice Portraiture day.
the theme...
On Their Terms.

harder than it sounds.
i wanted the perfect photos.

'do this, no- not that.. c'mon, please.'
i had to bite my tongue a couple times to stop myself from trying to get them to do it my way.
but what great shots i got letting them choose the photo.

'the boys'
my friends' kids.

and my model.
my girl.

 letting kids be kids..
some great fun.

73/365, 80/365

Hey there.
as you all know, i'm behind on these posts.
day 73...
i didn't take the photos challenge specific, but as i looked back to see if i had any that fit the theme i saw this one (of many)
the theme is:
HARD.

it is hard to get the night sky to look exactly as i see it.
this one was the closest i could get with my lens.

day 80:
Spring?

it is still March in the photo...
a day or 2 after my little girl's birthday.
it is officially spring,

29/365, 31/365

day 29:
Lively
the beast.
he absolutely loves winter.
he runs, bounds, leaps, rolls, slides.
he's definitely lively when he gets out in the snow.

I didn't do day 30: focusing.

day 31:
A Horse.
i went for a little walk over to visit my horse friends.
i was wanting them to come see me at the fence but there was a lot of snow, and they had their paths.

day 24

ok, before i show the pics from day 24.
i am done my 30 days photo challenge.
the photo end of it.
i finished my first ever 30 day challenge in 34 days.
next time i'll try to get them done in the alloted 30.

my kids were just beginning to ask:
"what's today's challenge mom?"

they had begun to enjoy figuring out what i could get pictures of.
i loved it.
i'll do another one for sure - but not just yet.

now, where was i?

day 24:
Animal

this is our beast.

my boy wanted me to take a photo of some of his animals

this is Lord Cliver.
he didn't want to have his photo taken.

my husband tried holding him for me.
it didn't work out so well.
our cat is not declawed.

Portraits: part 1

i'm taking a Basic Photography Course.
i'm already loving it and i am just ending the first week.
(first of 4)
why am i loving it?
he (instructor) told me (everyone taking it) to get in close.
that's right.
don't back away, go in close for the portrait shot.
don't have distracting backgrounds that take away from the person...
teddy bear...
whatever i photograph.
get comfortable and unafraid of getting in close.

this week's assignment:
take a close-up of someone you love, in beautiful light without a flash.

alright...
done...
and done again....
i love this.

my first test subject.
i posted these on the student gallery and got some good encouragement..

this guy i snapped while watching one of the videos and trying something out.
he just happened to be sitting beside the computer.

since my girl is home with me she gets to be the main subject..
thankfully she doesn't mind, most days.

she wanted to lie down for a shot - this is one of my favorites so far.

i told her to look up..she looked even higher than i thought.

she was following my direction quite well.

when the sun went behind the cloud i snapped this one...
and i had his KONG so he would sit still for me.

Bear and Lammie.
the kids' best friends.

She needed to be in the picture with them.  love her wind blown hairs

my boy finally wanted to pose... but the swing kept swinging.

these are all unedited.
i posted them exactly how they looked when i took them.

do you remember when you would capture that amazing picture with your film camera?
no editing and you were still in awe.
that was my goal with these..or at least some of them.

i'm happy with them.
so far.
more to be posted later.

Zoo Life

on the weekend we brought the kids to The Metro Toronto Zoo
they had never been to the zoo before.
it was overcast and cool.
it was a great day to be at the zoo.

this guy greets everyone who enters.

our first stop

i think this guy thought he ruled the place.

loved him.

my little girl caught this guy's attention.

lizard lovin'

Jaguars are so regal.

somehow these guys caught my boy's attention away from the jaguars.

show off.

the white lions.
our young mufasa up there appeared to be posing.

penguins are just so cool

a special thanks to Canon who gives photo advice on the Zoo website.
